Alminco's Emerald Service Centre has just completed its first year at our new bigger and better premises in Hawkins Place Emerald. A growing hire and service business for all Alminco products - including pumps and the Scorpion mobile drill rigs - have added to sales of Alminco Legends such as Gopher and Cub borer.
Mobile secondary support drill rig overhauls have become a major part of the service work at the Emerald workshop. During the past 12 months, the Emerald team have completed full overhauls on eight mobile drill rigs, including the Alminco Scorpion. All repairs are carried out to the highest standard keeping MDG compliance in mind. Every full rebuild is stripped to bare chassis and all components are checked; tracks, track drives and idlers, chassis, pins and bushes, hydraulics, air motors and pumps right through to the feedframe and rotation unit.
Both Joy and Sandvik feed frames are overhauled at Alminco's Emerald workshop with many high wear parts kept in stock, along with seal kits and bearings. Wade Follent is our drill rigs and feed frame specialist. He has several years' experience working for CRAM and Joy, and a wealth of knowledge on the workings of these machines. Alminco has recently opened a branch in the Hunter Valley (NSW) and has acquired the skills of Brian Barnes to inject some OEM knowledge into their workshop. Brain transferred to the new Thornton Branch in early January following two years at Emerald where he gained knowledge on Alminco's core products as well as drill rigs and feed frames. His experience with Alminco's OEM products will be a huge benefit to the new operations in the Hunter. To replace Brian, Emerald has acquired the services of Derek Lee who has started an apprenticeship in Heavy Mobile Automotive Equipment. He is showing great potential and will be a huge asset to the company in future years. Debra Murray, who has been one of the voices answering the phone and doing administration duties for the past four years has recently been replaced by another Debra. Debbie Elliot commenced at the Emerald branch in January and has hit the ground running. She has quickly learned most of the duties and terminology used in the mining industry, and is very much enjoying her new role. Her experience will be greatly appreciated at Emerald and clients will still be cheerfully greeted and treated to the same friendly, professional Alminco service.
